This November will see some very important local races affecting open space protection, “smart” development and transportation, as well as SFO’s expansion plans. Find out the Loma Prieta Chapter’s local election endorsements, and don’t forget to cast your vote on November 6.

It's time to vote in the Loma Prieta Chapter elections. Chapter member's ballot can be found in the paper issue of the October Loma Prietan. Ballots must be received at the Chapter office by Friday, November 2, 2001.

2001 Coastal Cleanup Day A Success

The 17th annual Coastal Cleanup day took place as planned on Saturday, September 15th. In San Mateo County 1,462 volunteers came to 28 sites and picked up 91,000 pounds of trash and 26,940 pounds of recyclables. |
Chapter Lobbies in Sacramento

On August 27th, four members of our Chapter asked our Assemblyman to vote “yes” on SB 540. This bill will give rural counties the right to appeal clear-cut timber harvest plan decisions to State Board of Forestry. Two days later, Assemblyman Joe Simitian
voted to pass it out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee to the Assembly floor for a vote. |
