The big day is Tuesday, November 5th, and once again our loyal corp of dedicated volunteers have done a tremendous job researching, interviewing and scrutinizing candidates for city councils, the California state legislature, and the U.S. House of Representatives to decide on our endorsements.

No More "Secondhand Smog"

Governor Gray Davis signed AB 2637 on September 27, bringing to an end a long time special exemption for Bay Area motorists from Smog Check II. Calling for an "end to Secondhand Smog", the Governor said fairness was the main reason he signed the bill.

Food and Agriculture Committee Restarted

On August 26, the Loma Prieta Conservation Committee voted unanimously to restart the Food and Agriculture issue committee. The Food and Ag committee will cover issues of food safety and security in our current conventional food supply, like genetically engineered (GE) foods, decreasing bio-diversity of agricultural crops, and loss of topsoil and agricultural lands to development.
